The first 3 of the class had short and busy lives, being completed in 1942 & 43. Sakawa was finished but never saw service, except as a test target off Bikini Atoll. For RC naval combat, they are fast and reasably roomy for a light cruiser. In big gun combat, she has a potent torpedo salvo to complement her guns armament.


Rated Speed: 35kts on 4 screws. The ship had 1 rudder.
Armored belt 2.4" thick
Armament:
6 x 6.1" guns in 4 twin turrets
4 x 3" AA guns
32 x 25mm AA guns
2 x quadruple torpedo launchers

Fast Gun stats: 23sec/100ft, 3.0 units


This hull will be available in 1/144 scale in late fall 2007, and will cost around $120 dollars. Main turrets will be available, as well as superstructure and other scale details!
